Offering players hope and opportunity that transform and empower their lives

Our Goal

To provide every under-resourced youth player in Middle Tennessee the opportunity to play, train, and develop holistically. 

History
Ultimate Goal began as a simple thought John Stayskal had while playing soccer on a service trip with his church to Costa Rica in 1994.  John was struck by how children and youth were drawn to the game.  Upon returning to Nashville, Tennessee John discussed the idea with those he knew of using soccer as a means to reach out to under-resourced youth and within a year created a grassroots organization to organize his efforts: Ultimate Goal Ministries.

In 1995, UGM was officially established and within five years had traveled to Mexico, Costa Rica, Sweden, Switzerland, England, and France on trips coordinated by the ministry. In 2000, Ultimate Goal expanded to include a year-round Nashville-based outreach to youth through soccer which has grown to personify the core heartbeat and mission of Ultimate Goal Ministries.

Ultimate Goal soccer-based programming supplies a sports-based development opportunity that provides players meaningful mentoring relationships and programming tailored to transforming and empowering their lives.

Ultimate Goal embarked on soccer-based youth development locally in 2001 through the creation of its first boy’s club team.  After six years of mentorship and coaching, Ultimate Goal graduated this first competitive soccer team, accomplishing a few key benchmarks: 11 of 15 players matriculated to college enrolled as full-time students; of those 11, 6 received soccer scholarships as members of a collegiate varsity team, many who also received academic scholarship and financial aid; 4 players entered the workforce, with all four sustaining a job while pursuing their career path.

Ultimate Goal developed program designs for both its year-round soccer-based youth development program (Club) and recreational soccer league (Synergy Soccer), detailing the purpose, target areas, schedule, and components of each program.

Extending its mission into the future, Ultimate Goal seeks to offer its services and intervention more comprehensively to Nashville and Middle Tennessee’s diverse and underprivileged, under-resourced communities.

With these communities in mind, Ultimate Goal has taken on sole management of a recreational soccer league centered in the Antioch area of South Nashville, currently called Synergy Soccer.

As we remain faithful to our mission of offering players hope and opportunity that transform and empower their lives, Ultimate Goal envisions a portfolio of soccer-based club, league, and team initiatives in Nashville’s diverse, underprivileged and under-resourced neighborhoods that will not only impact their at-risk youth but also foster transformation and empowerment in their families and the community.

With community, corporate, and resident partnership, Ultimate Goal will continue pioneering our vision and delivery of how soccer can address the concerns and needs of the greater community of Nashville.
