Players need to talk to their coach, and listen
to what he has to say. Talk to God anywhere, any time, about everything
- not just "spiritual stuff", but anything that interests
you or concerns you. You don't need religious words, just speak
to God as you would a friend (but with respect). Try praying with
other Christians. Prayer changes things and changes you.
Get a modern translation - they're easier
to understand (e.g. the Good News Bible or New International Version).
The Bible's not just the rulebook. It shows you what God is like,
and it's one way he can speak to you to answer your prayers. It's
best to start with one of the books about Jesus' life, like the
gospel of Mark. Ask another Christian about things you don't understand.
Christianity is a team game. We need to worship
God, encourage each other and learn more about him. It doesn't matter
what name the church has, provided it believes that the Bible is
the true Word of God, Jesus is fully God and fully man, and that
the only way to God is through faith in Jesus.
Soccer is watched by millions. Christianity
needs to be seen by others too. People need to find out about Jesus,
both through what you do (obeying him) and what you say. It's important
to tell someone else that you have become a Christian. Try telling
a Christian friend first, if you want to. They'll be very pleased
to hear it.
