However good we think we are, all of us have had wrong thoughts,
said things we shouldn't and behaved badly towards others. Because
God is perfectly holy, this keeps us apart from him. The Bible says,
"Everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence."
(Romans 3:23)
We've all fouled up and God has awarded the penalty - separation
from him forever. But Jesus has given us a way back to God. By his
death, he took God's punishment for our sins. Now, if we put Jesus
in charge of our life, we can be right with God: "By the free
gift of God's grace all are made right with him through Christ Jesus,
who sets them free." (Romans 3:24)
God wants you on his team, but the choice is yours. You must admit
that you have disobeyed him, and ask him to forgive you. Then tell
him that from now on you want to live his way. Thank Jesus for dying
for you, and ask him to be your Lord and Savior. "God makes
people right through their faith in Jesus Christ." (Romans
3:22)
If you have asked God's forgiveness, and really want to live God's
way, you have become a Christian. Jesus has come into your life
through the Holy Spirit, and you have eternal life: "Whoever
has the Son has life, whoever does not have the Son of God does
not have life." (I John 5:12)
